Many people today are simply existing without giving much thought to their future. They wander along from one thing to the next thing with little to no forethought. Wherever the wind happens to be blowing is where they end up. While this may be a fun way to explore the countryside one Saturday or Sunday afternoon with a loved one or friend, one should not hope to achieve their goals with this approach.
Imagine if airlines operated with no predefined flight plans. Air travel would be absolute chaos. While operating with a flight plan doesn’t guarantee you’ll reach your destination on time or that you’ll reach your destination at all, it does significantly increase the odds. Just as making plans for your life is no guarantee for success, making plans does help tilt the odds greatly in favor of your becoming successful. To have a goal without an accompanying plan is merely to have a wish.
So, if you have a desire to become a singer, start a business, or write a book. Don’t wait until the wind blows you in that direction, begin making plans and set your sail to move in that direction regardless of which way the wind is currently blowing.
